MSC Opera to be used as hotel at 2022 Fifa World Cup

MSC Cruises has announced a third ship in its fleet will be used as a hotel in Doha for the duration of the 2022 Fifa World Cup

MSC Opera will join soon-to-launch MSC World Europa and MSC Poesia at the tournament, which takes place in Qatar between November 19 and December 19.

The 2,579-passenger ship can be booked for two or more nights by both football fans and those visiting the city who aren’t attending matches.

There are seven different cabin grades available to book direct via the line or with a travel agent.

The ship has a piano lounge, a theatre, restaurants, a spa, gym, swimming pools and whirlpools spread across nine decks.

The deployment of the ship was confirmed in partnership with Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

MSC Cruises last month put MSC Virtuosa’s 2023 ex-UK programme, featuring a string of new itineraries, on sale.

The 6,300-passenger ship is operating sailings previously scheduled to be operated by MSC Preziosa and MSC Grandiosa.
