Manchester airport announces airlines moving terminals

Eleven airlines including Jet2.com will move terminals at Manchester airport this autumn as the hub continues its £1.3 billion “transformation”.

During October and November, 11 airlines will move from Terminals 1 and 3 to Terminal 2, with more to follow in 2025.

The airport is providing passengers with information to help them plan ahead, or to make any required changes to car park or lounge bookings.

Several airlines already operate from the new Terminal 2, the first section of which opened in 2021, doubling the size of the terminal.

Terminal 2 is being doubled in size and when it is fully completed will be the airport’s main terminal, serving more than 70% of its passengers.

Austrian, Lufthansa and Swiss will move on Sunday October 27, with TAP Air Portugal moving on the following Wednesday (October 30).

More airlines will move in November, starting with Biman Bangladesh (November 5), followed by Jet2.com on November 6.

Thursday November 7 will see Iberia Express and Vueling make the move, followed on Tuesday November 12 by Egyptair and SunExpress. The final move will be Royal Jordanian on Wednesday November 13.

The airport said that affected airlines have already told passengers who are due to travel about the change.

Passengers who have already booked parking near to Terminal 1 or 3 can change their bookings and passengers who have booked lounge access in Terminal 1 or 3 can also amend bookings.

Passengers who have booked parking or lounge access through a third party will have to contact the provider through which they booked.

In a small number of cases, passengers will arrive at a different terminal than the one from which they departed.

Terminal 2 is about 15 to 20 minutes’ walk from the car parks serving Terminals 1 and 3 and there is clear signage.

The airport’s transformation programme, announced in 2015, aims to “revolutionise the customer and colleague experience”.

The second phase of the transformation will see the original Terminal 2 building refurbished to match the new extension.
