Seabourn has cancelled scheduled summer sailings in Europe on two ships over concerns the relevant authorities will not give the voyages the green light to go ahead.
In a statement posted on the line’s Facebook page on Thursday (April 22), Seabourn said sailings on Seabourn Sojourn (pictured) had been scrapped through to September 25 and Seabourn Encore’s voyages have been cancelled through to August 21.
Both vessels had been due to offer European sailings from early July.
The line stressed it was focusing on Greece and the Caribbean where it had “obtained approval to sail” and was cancelling the other European voyages “to allow guests time to make alternate plans”.
Seabourn said: “As we work on Seabourn’s return to service, we are focusing on the destinations where we have obtained approval to sail.
“Regretfully, we do not anticipate receiving approval for all planned itineraries before they are scheduled to sail and have made the difficult decision to cancel additional 2021 European departures to allow guests time to make alternate plans.”
This week, Seabourn revealed plans to base Seabourn Odyssey in Barbados from July 18. The ship will operate seven-night round-trip cruises, calling at destinations such as Antigua; British Virgin Islands; Dominica; Grenada; St Lucia; St Maarten; and St Kitts.
Earlier this month, the luxury line announced a programme of Greece sailings on Seabourn Ovation which are due to start on July 3.
Agents will be sent information relevant to their customer’s booking, the line said.
