Admiral Travel Group has secured a bumper booking of £70,000, thanks to ‘good old-fashioned sales’ techniques at its Wilmslow branch.
Sue Rosell, branch manager, sealed the deal with Cyplon Holidays for a multigenerational family group of 17.
They will be travelling to the all-inclusive Ikos Dassia luxury resort, Corfu, for 10 days in 2027.
Rosell said she first met the client shortly after the branch opened in January 2025, and she approached him while he browsed the brochure racks.
“He asked who we were and…at that time, he wanted to take the family to the Caribbean, so I gave him my card,” she said.
The client “popped in from time to time to say hi” but then said the family couldn’t go to the Caribbean, only Europe.
“So we looked at Ikos Dassia in Corfu – we could tell them about the resort as we’d had Ikos training,” said Rosell.
“All the family was involved on email…we had to tick a lot of boxes.”
She also hailed the supported of Cyplon and business development manager for the north, Kirsty Mitchell, saying the operator has been “brilliant”.
Mitchell commented: “I’m thrilled that Sue from Admiral Wilmslow has secured an outstanding £70k booking at Ikos Dassia.
“Over the past three years at Cyplon, I’ve worked closely with Sue and her teams, building a trusted professional relationship that has naturally grown into a genuine friendship.
“She has consistently converted bookings to Cyplon, and in return I’ve made it a priority to ensure she and her team always feel supported and truly valued.
“Our personal, hands-on approach is what sets us apart from larger competitors, and it’s why loyal agents like Sue continue to return to us time and time again.”
Craig Weatherill, Admiral Travel Group director, said the booking came about thanks to “good old-fashioned” sales techniques, talking to clients at the brochure rack and keeping in touch to build a rapport.
“We have seen more and more multigenerational holidays since Covid, with retired couples adding on children and grandchildren, saying that ‘you can’t take it with you’,” he said.
“We’ve been making some big bookings…the cost of holidays is up but people always want holidays so they will make sacrifices.
“We are seeing a massive increase in river cruising and long-haul.
“We used to be a bucket-and-spade brand but are now getting more into the luxury market with the new shop and staff from the area in Wilmslow.
“We are looking at changing the branding a bit as we have had the same logo for 25 years.”
Rosell said the client had heard “good things” about Admiral Travel and wanted to book with the agency in order to support a local business.
“Our branch is full of brochures and we have a lovely sofa where we encourage clients to read the brochures, which gives us time to talk to them and it’s not pressured,” added Rosell, who has worked in travel for 25 years.
The sale ranks as one of the biggest bookings in the history of the Admiral Travel Group, and is a record for both Rosell and the branch.
The Admiral Travel Group, a member of the Hays Travel Independence Group, has three Admiral Travel branches in Altrincham, Cheadle and Wilmslow, plus three under the Craig Travel brand in Kendal, Workington and Cockermouth.
