Midcounties Co-operative closes Carrick Travel branch

Midcounties Co-operative has closed one of Carrick Travel’s seven branches.

The consortium said the Kenilworth store “no longer fitted with the long-term strategy”.

A notice in the window of the shop, which was located in Warwick Road of the Warwickshire town, reads: "This branch has closed. All bookings have now been moved to Carrick Travel Leamington Spa."

A spokesperson for Midcounties Co-operative said the consortium was in consultation with the shop’s three employees, who have been “offered alternative roles within the business”.

They added: “The Midcounties Co-operative board regularly reviews our property footprint to ensure we’re providing the best opportunity to deliver for our members and customers while supporting local communities across the regions where Your Co-op Travel branches are present.

“As part of this review, the Your Co-op Travel Kenilworth branch was identified as no longer fitting with the long-term strategy of the Society. Therefore, the store ceased trading on October 30.

“All existing bookings have been transferred to our Leamington Spa branch to ensure continuity of service for our members and customers. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the team at Kenilworth for their hard work and understanding during this time of transition.”

Carrick Travel’s seven branches joined The Co-operative Travel in October 2020.
