The number of candidates securing new jobs in the travel industry rose by 17% in May compared with the previous month, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.
The tally was the third-highest total of the year so far, but represented an 18% fall from the same month in 2024.
The number of new travel jobs created last month fell by 9% compared with April, and the figure slipped by 12% compared with May last year.
The number of candidates beginning their search for a new travel job last month dipped by 6% compared with April, with the total being 20% down on May 2024.
C&M Travel Recruitment co-owner and managing director Barbara Kolosinska said: “It’s always encouraging to see a rise in new travel job placements – and a 17% increase from April is a very positive thing.
“However, we can’t ignore the fact that placements, candidates and vacancies are all down compared with the same month last year.
“While the year-on-year dips aren’t huge, we are hoping to see activity pick up as we enter the summer months.
“Fortunately, the early stats for June are looking healthier with more companies looking to bring new travel talent into their team.”
