Trade union Unite has called off strike action by about 800 Heathrow workers who help passengers with restricted mobility, revealing that an improved pay deal has been accepted.
The Wilson James workers took periodic strike action from April until last month, with managers also taking action last month.
Strikes scheduled for earlier this month were suspended while union members were balloted on the improved offer, which has now been approved.
The workers voted to accept a 7.5 % pay increase backdated to January 2025, with wages increasing by a further 5% in April 2026.
The deal also includes a day’s extra annual leave, improved holiday booking flexibility and an industry benchmarking commitment to ensure pay remains fair and competitive in the future.
Wilson James managers will receive a 7.5% pay increase backdated to January, as well as a 1.25% increase in the overrate rate, enhanced sick pay, a day’s extra annual leave and free airport parking.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is what trade unionism in action looks like: Wilson James’ Heathrow staff stood together in solidarity to achieve fair pay and won a huge victory.
“As the union for the UK’s airport and airline staff, Unite is relentless in delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”
