Business Travel Association appoints two directors

The Business Travel Association (BTA) has appointed Wings Global Travel chief Gary Povey and BCD Travel Europe senior vice-president Joanna Greenfield to its board.

 

Povey has held senior positions in organisations covering all aspects of the global travel industry, having worked across payments, expenses and hotel sectors.

 

He joined Wings, where he oversees business growth, from Reed & Mackay, where he served as executive vice-president for global sales, spearheading its global expansion.

 

He also brings leadership experience from Expedia subsidiary Traveldoo, InterContinental Hotels Group, Omega World Travel and American Express Global Travel.

 

Greenfield spent the first 24 years of her career at Flight Centre, spending 12 years in the retail division, before joining FCM Travel Solutions where she headed up the UK business for seven years.

 

She moved to BCD in December 2022, where she is responsible for the UKIE, France, Italy, the Benelux region and the European hub in Barcelona working with national and multinational customers.

 

The pair bring a combined 50 years of industry experience to the association.

 

Mervyn Williamson, interim chair of the BTA board, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gary and Jo to the BTA and are really pleased to see our executive board continually grow and expand.

 

“I look forward to working closely with them both as we continue to serve the needs of those travelling for work and champion the vital role of TMCs.”

 

Povey said: “I look forward to using my experience to support meaningful change for both TMCs and the businesses they serve - ensuring we continue to evolve and stay ahead in what is becoming an increasingly complex travel landscape.”

 

Greenfield added: “I am excited to join the BTA board at such a time of change.

 

“I hope to bring a fresh perspective from across the industry to elevate the role of business travel within the economy whilst reflecting the needs of business travellers today and in the future.”
