Air Canada to resume non-stop flights between Heathrow and Ottawa

Air Canada will resume non-stop flights between Heathrow and Ottawa in spring 2025, with the airline also revealing it hopes to operate the route with greater frequency in the future.

Four flights a week are scheduled from March 31 – October 25, 2025 using Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking the return of the service after its pause during the pandemic.

Ottawa Tourism president and chief executive Michael Crockatt said: “This will make it even easier for visitors from the UK – Ottawa’s top overseas market – and other key destinations to travel to Canada’s capital to visit friends and family, to attend a conference or sporting event, and to experience our celebrated cultural gems and easy access to that world renowned Canadian nature.”

Flights from Heathrow on Monday and Thursday will depart at 2.05pm and arrive at 4.35pm, while flights on Wednesday and Saturday will depart at 12.40pm and arrive at 3.20pm.

Flights from Ottawa on Monday and Thursday will depart at 6.40pm and arrive the following day at 6.30am, with flights on Wednesday and Saturday departing at 8.55pm and arriving the following day at 8.35am.

The return of the route means Air Canada will serve Heathrow from six Canadian cities, operating up to 63 weekly flights in summer 2025.

The carrier has suggested the Ottawa route could eventually operate with greater frequency and potentially year-round when new aircraft arrive.

Mark Galardo, executive vice-president of revenue and network planning at Air Canada, said: “We are looking forward to the future delivery of Air Canada’s new Airbus A321XLR fleet. The economics, optimum cabin size and range of the XLR, which is expected to begin arriving in late 2025, will enable us to consider operating this important international route with greater frequencies and potentially with year-round service.”

The Ottawa service will operate from Heathrow Terminal 2, also known as The Queen’s Terminal.
