Wizz Air passenger numbers edged up year-on-year in May by 2.1% to 5.1 million.
Capacity was constrained to an increase of just 1.2%, reflecting the continuing impact of engine-related aircraft groundings.
The Hungarian budget carrier was forced to ground 45 Airbus aircraft at the end of March as GTF engines supplied by Pratt & Whitney were recalled.
The May load factor improved by 0.7 percentage points to 91% over the same month last year, “reflecting strong management action in balancing passenger volumes and yield progression”.
Last month’s performance gave the carrier a rolling annual total of 62.1 million passengers, a rise of 16.8%.
