Jet2 boosts Malta capacity by 6,000 seats

Jet2 and Jet2holidays have boosted the season to Malta by raising capacity by 6,000 seats.

The year-on-year increase of more than 60% comes on the back of “very strong” consumer demand for winter sun.

Services to the destination will now run until November 28, with flights re-starting from March 2023.

Flights will run from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Stansted airports for the first time since winter 2019-20.

The season has also been extended from Manchester airport.

Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy said: “Since the return of international travel, we have seen strong and sustained demand.

“As always, we have responded to that demand by extending the season to Malta from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted and Manchester airports and offering flights up to the end of November and restarting again in March.

“It means we are operating services to Malta in the winter period once again from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and London Stansted airports, giving customers and independent travel agents even more opportunity to enjoy or offer a holiday in the sunshine.

“With customers continuing to jump at the chance to book and travel on their well-deserved holidays, we are confident that these new services to Malta, coupled with our award-winning customer service, will prove very popular.”

Malta airport chief executive Alan Borg said: “We are delighted that the United Kingdom will be benefitting from increased connectivity to Malta in the off-peak months through Jet2.com’s vote of confidence in our islands.

“Besides mild and sunny winters, Malta has plenty to offer to visitors in terms of historical attractions, cultural events, and a burgeoning culinary scene.

“We look forward to continue to work with Jet2.com and Jet2holidaysto develop much-needed capacity on routes to the United Kingdom so that we may see our once-strongest market back at the top of our leaderboard.”
