Lufthansa will start a new service between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and its main hub in Frankfurt on May 4, 2022.
It will be the first time that the German carrier will offer non-stop flights from Liverpool to Frankfurt, where Lufthansa and Star Alliance carriers operate at one single terminal.
Passengers from Liverpool will be able to connect through Frankfurt to more than 150 destinations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Heinrich Lange, Lufthansa’s senior sales director for Northern Europe, said: “Lufthansa will be the first global network airline in Liverpool with easy reach to destinations on four continents.
“As a premium carrier, we will be the only airline at John Lennon Airport to offer seats in business class and all the amenities of a full-service approach.”
John Irving, chief executive at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, added: “It has been a long-held desire of both the airport and the city region as a whole to reconnect Liverpool with the world and we are therefore absolutely delighted to be welcoming Lufthansa to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.”
With a flight time of one hour and 40 minutes, the new service will be Lufthansa’s 11th UK destination.
