Newmarket Holidays revamps Edinburgh Tattoo itinerary

Newmarket Holidays has unveiled a new itinerary for its 2024 Edinburgh Tattoo tours following feedback from clients.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual highlight in the Scottish capital, featuring performances of massed pipes, drums, dancers and display teams on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.

The itinerary from Newmarket Holidays includes three nights’ bed-and-breakfast accommodation at a centrally located Glasgow hotel, a reserved seat to observe the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, guided orientation tours of Glasgow and Edinburgh with added leisure time and an optional excursion to Loch Lomond.

Agents can book one of two versions of the package, with the first including flights from several London and regional UK airports including Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham and Belfast International.

Alternatively, a tour-only option is available for customers wanting to make their own way to the accommodation.

Richard Forde, head of retail sales at the escorted tour specialist, said: “Our newly updated Edinburgh Tattoo four-day escorted tour has been revised with customer feedback in mind, now opting for a favourably located central Glasgow hotel that allows our customers more time to explore the city during an orientation tour and at their leisure.

“The hotel’s positioning also ensures a shorter transfer time to and from the airport and The Royal Military Edinburgh Tattoo performance.

“Most touring competitors stay outside of major Scottish cities, so this is a strong point of differentiation for us.

“In addition, the option of an excursion on the third day means that customers can customise their itinerary to see more of the surrounding area.”

Prices start from £799 for the tour with flights, or from £620 on a tour-only package. The event takes place in August 2024.
