Classic Collection joins Atas ‘to reach new agents’

Classic Collection has joined the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas) to “reach new agents and talk about our growing portfolio”.

Chief executive Oliver Garner said the operator had launched a small programme of private, tailormade tours in December 2019, shortly before Covid hit and the country was thrown into lockdown.

He explained this initial offering was available in places such as Africa and Asia and was a mixture of multi-centre and private tours, which appealed to families, honeymooners and luxury clients.

Garner said that Classic also had a “small selection of small group tours” for people with slightly smaller budgets, and who were happy to travel with others as a way to see destinations and socialise. He said this product had appealed to solo travellers and families and had featured short-haul destinations as well, such as Italy, Greece, Spain and Croatia.

“We have 90 tours available across 90 destinations,” said Garner, but he accepted Classic needed to shout louder about its offering.

Sales and marketing director Si Morris-Green said: “The first thing is to create the content and put it into existing brochures so that agents know that we’ve got this content.

“But then there is nothing to stop us bringing out a touring brochure, which is something we might do for the Atas Conference on November 1-2. We might create a bespoke guide for that event.”

“Classic already creates agent guides to key destinations, such as The Maldives and The Caribbean, with one on Africa coming in a month’s time. So a Touring Guide would be easy to create,” he said.

Garner added: “As we grow, we’ve got more and more opportunity to specialise.”
