Miles Morgan Travel has hosted 36 suppliers over three days to train more than 100 staff from its high-street branches.
It is the first time the annual, large-scale face-to-face training event has been held for three years due to the Covid pandemic.
The agency’s staff received training in group speed dating sessions of 30 minutes each, including games and quizzes, by suppliers and had lunch to network with the group’s preferred partners at Stonehouse Court Hotel in Gloucestershire.
Owner Miles Morgan oversaw the Christmas training event, ringing the bell for the end of each training session.
Agents at the event included the company’s ‘rising stars’ who are new recruits taken on this year post-Covid, many from outside the travel industry with little or no travel sales experience.
Natalie King, travel specialist at the Chippenham branch, who started in March this year, said: “The training is massively helpful. It really helps you to refocus on each product.”
Suppliers said the training event was a worthwhile way of training and getting to know staff from across the retailer’s network.
Michelle Halsey, area sales manager for the south west and Wales for Titan Travel, said: “It’s fun and well organised and the staff are really engaged.”
Edwina Coppock, key account manager UK, Uniworld, said: “Miles Morgan Travel is a new partner for us and this is about meeting as many people as we can face-to-face. I have found it really useful.”
