Ramblers Walking Holidays has launched a selection of pilgrimage routes as part of the operator’s range of new special-interest holidays for 2023.
The walks offer holidaymakers “a meaningful adventure” along routes with rich cultural heritage and striking scenery.
Itineraries are in France, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Portugal.
The operator also highlighted the fact that, as a charitable trust, profits are channelled to a variety of outdoor, walking-related and environmental conservation projects, “adding a further element of meaningfulness”.
Among the new options for 2023 is Along the Algarve Way, featuring the 300km Via Algarviana.
A seven-night package starts £1,530 including flights from London to Faro.
Also new is Camino de Santiago – The French Way (pictured), which starts from the French town of Saint Jean Pied de Port and finishes at the Unesco World Heritage listed ‘Old Town’ of Santiago de Compostela.
Walkers can gather for a pilgrims’ mass in the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral at the end of their journey.
The week-long holiday costs from £1,520/person including flights.
The prices also include transfers, B&B accommodation and dinners in local restaurants and the hotel.
