Dozens of travel agents have been honoured for their efforts in the most challenging ever period for the trade at the first Agent Achievement Awards since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Winners were praised not only for their professionalism over the course of the industry’s biggest ever test, but also for showing support to partners, colleagues, customers and their communities.

This year, the Agent Achievement Awards were streamlined to reflect demands on agency resources, with a focus on supplier-voted categories and a small number of individual awards.

Honours were spread between many agencies this year, with no company winning more than two awards on the night.

Andrew Earle’s Holidays was a multiple winner, taking home both the High Street Agency of the Year – Small award as well as winning in the Yorkshire, North Midlands and North East England – Small Agency of the Year category.

Hays Travel also bagged two awards. It won both the High Street Agency of the Year – Large award and the Yorkshire, North Midlands and North East England – Large Agency of the Year gong.

Cruise specialist Iglu.com was another agency to win two awards. It triumphed in the Online Agency of the Year category and came out as the top Cruise Agency of the Year – Large.

Miles Morgan Travel was named Touring and Adventure Agency of the Year and also bagged the South West England and South Wales – Large Agency award.

Lilli Turner, Midcounties Co-operative Travel, Young Leisure Agent of the Year

“When they said my name I couldn’t believe I had won this award. I left school three years ago when I was 16 and joined Co-op Travel as an apprentice. I am so passionate about travel, I just love it, and when I sell a holiday I am more excited than the customer about their holiday.”

Martin Sandland-Owens, Holiday Village, Leisure Agent of the Year

“I never thought I would win this award. This award is not dedicated to me but to everyone in the travel industry who has gone through the last 18 months. It’s been horrendous and we all deserve an award. I have been in travel for 23 years and I love this industry.”

Libby Gray, Hays Travel, Leisure Manager of the Year

“It’s been a really tough and challenging two years with both Thomas Cook and Covid – but Hays invested in us and I wanted to repay that.”
