Cambodia has removed all Covid-19 testing requirements for vaccinated visitors, with immediate effect.
The destination has also reinstated its visa-on-arrival programme making entry to the country easier for vaccinated travellers.
The news comes as neighbouring Vietnam reopens its borders to vaccinated travellers.
James Mundy, a spokesperson for Asia specialist Inside Asia, said: “This is an incredible move from Cambodia which has led the way in southeast Asia with regards to post-Covid travel.
“Cambodia is hugely reliant on tourism and has suffered heavily over the pandemic.
“It is obviously very keen to do what it can to bring visitors back and we hope that other countries in the region will begin to follow suit.”
The announcement means there is no longer any need for vaccinated visitors to show a pre-arrival PCR test or take any sort of test during their stay in Cambodia, removing extra costs and possible confusion for tourists.
InsideAsia Tours offers tailormade tours to Cambodia, such as the 11-night Into the Heart of Cambodia trip, featuring Siem Reap’s Angkor Wat (pictured), a homestay in the small temple town of Bantaey Chhmar, Battambang, Phnom Penh and Kep national park.
The operator has also launched tours of South Korea following the news that the destination will be reopening the country’s borders and allowing quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated travellers from April 1.
• Elsewhere, Japan will next week remove the quasi-state of emergency restrictions that have been in place in Tokyo and other parts of the country since January.
The country will also raise the cap on foreign nationals entering the country from 3,500 to 5,000 per day.
InsideJapan, part of the Inside Travel Group, still expects that some travel will begin early this summer.
The operator has partnered with Tokyo to produce a virtual tour from the city on the theme of ‘old and new’, from March 23.
