Scotland-based homeworking agency We Do Travel has opened a shop in Dumbarton as part of a strategy to pursue more high-value bookings.
Owners Eilidh and David McKerry, who opened the high street premises on December 1, said the first week of trading was “fantastic”.
“We had lots of customers popping in to see us and lots of suppliers too,” said David.
He revealed the agency is aiming to capture more bookings for “aspirational travel”, as well as more touring holidays.
The idea to open a shop came from a desire to meet customers face-to-face and build relationships beyond phone calls and messages, he added.
Dumbarton was identified as a promising location because it has lacked a travel agency since its Tui branch closed during the pandemic.
“We saw an opportunity to come into the high street while it’s undergoing a revival,” Eilidh added.
The couple said they had a “storming” November, with sales up 149% year on year, while December has been “steady” so far.
Sales in the year to date are 30% higher than in 2024, with cruise among the top-performing sectors.
