The UK Holiday Group has promoted Cheryl Barnard to the newly created role of head of groups for its Just for Groups brand.
The Norwich-based mature travel specialist has also promoted Dean Smith to the role of finance director.
The group said the appointment of two new senior leaders is “a milestone that reflects a strong year of growth and continued expansion”.
Barnard has more than 15 years of experience in the travel industry and began her career working for Going Places and Cosmos.
She joined Just for Groups eight years ago and, as group sales executive, she has played an “instrumental” role in managing group reunions, special events and conferences, inbound tours and tailor-made group holidays across the UK and Europe.
Barnard also leads major travel accounts such as the Royal Naval Association and the Civil Service Motoring Association.
As well as working with group travel organisers, she can liaise with travel agents who have group bookings.
Paul Bennett, managing director of The UK Holiday Group, said: “Leading and supporting some of our largest key accounts, Cheryl was the natural fit to take on this important role.
“The Just for Groups team are like mini tour operators – planning bespoke itineraries, sourcing and contracting hotels, and building strong relationships with both hotels and group organisers.”
The Just for Groups team has grown to eight over the past year to meet increasing demand, with the recent addition of a new sales executive Kay Oulds and administrator Poppy Dean, alongside the creation of the new head of groups position.
Barnard said: “I’m thrilled to step into this new role and continue supporting our valued group organisers. I look forward to working even more closely with our partners and building on the strong foundations of this exceptional brand.”
Smith has worked at The UK Holiday Group for 15 years, beginning as finance assistant before progressing through the roles of assistant accountant, financial controller, and to company secretary, a post which he still holds.
As finance director, he oversees all aspects of the company’s financial operations ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance and the continued financial health of the business.
Bennett added: “Dean has shown exceptional commitment to both me and the company over the years, including the turbulence of the Covid period.
“His dedication and professionalism make him thoroughly deserving of this directorship, and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to build a strong future for the business.”
