Uniworld confirms name of new European river ship

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises today confirmed that a new ship to enter service in Europe in 2026 will be named Emilie.

The latest addition to the fleet will join other new vessels, including Victoria (pictured), debuting on the Rhine and Moselle rivers this year, and Elisabeth, due to be launched on the Rhine in 2025.

The ship will be a new build inspired by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt and named after his life partner Emilie Flöge.

More information about the vessel and itineraries will be forthcoming, the line said.

Uniworld has added five other ships to its fleet since 2020, including Mekong Jewel in Vietnam and Cambodia; Aria Amazon on the Maranon and Ucayali rivers in Peru; São Gabriel on the Douro in Portugal; La Venezia on the Venetian Lagoon; and Sphinx on the Nile in Egypt.

President and chief executive Ellen Bettridge, who first disclosed plans for the new vessel at the Clia Riverview conference in Amsterdam, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce a brand new ship to our fleet in 2026, just in time to celebrate Uniworld’s 50th anniversary.

“Our commitment to excellence is unwavering, and this outstanding new vessel reaffirms our dedication to providing the best and most luxurious ships on the rivers.

“We believe in delivering the highest level of quality to our guests, and our portfolio truly embodies the best of the best in the market.”
