Industry leaders and frontline staff have taken to social media to express their sadness at the demise of Monarch Airlines and pledge support for its customers and staff.
Confirmation that the airline would be entering administration came at 4am on Monday morning, after last-ditch attempts to renew its Atol failed.
In a series of tweets, Hugh Morgan, Cosmos chairman and former chairman of Monarch Travel Group, described the developments as a ‘very sad day’ and posted ‘RIP’ to Monarch.
It is going to be a very tough period for a lot of very good people, and customers.
And then tweeted a picture of Monarch staff and said:
What a shame to lose such great service!!!!
Brian Young, managing director of G Adventures and former Monarch Group sales director, said:
