Into the wild

The shores of Antarctica are home to jaw-dropping landscapes with icebergs, glaciers and ice floes unlike anywhere else on earth.

The icy waters and beaches are peppered with rare wildlife, such as millions of gentoo penguins, leopard seals, humpback whales and orcas, which migrate to the peninsula.

HX offers an exciting range of expedition cruises to suit every traveller. Shorter itineraries take in the highlights of the frozen continent, while longer itineraries also cover the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and adventures in Patagonia and the Chilean fjords of South America, before the epic journey begins from Ushuaia across the Drake Passage.

On each HX cruise, passengers can enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery from the comfort of their ship’s observation deck, as well as stepping foot on the landing sites, cruising past glaciers and seeing wildlife in its natural habitat.

They can also choose to join snowshoeing and kayaking excursions, guided by the knowledgeable Expedition Team, and have the chance to enter a lottery to camp on the ice under a starry Antarctic sky.

Cruise with purpose

Trips to Antarctica with HX are all-inclusive, meaning meals, drinks and excursions are incorporated. There are plenty of activities off the ship, both on the water and the ice, to spot seals and rare seabirds, and get up close to the spectacular frozen terrain.

Plus, guests will receive a complimentary polar expedition jacket and reusable water bottle for protection and comfort while exploring.

To warm up afterwards, guests will have access to the ship’s onboard sauna, hot tub and lounges. They will also return home with incredible photos thanks to the professional onboard photographer, who will give tips for capturing amazing moments.

No expedition is complete without visiting the Science Centre, where the Expedition Team host lectures and workshops on a wide variety of topics to fully immerse passengers in the destination. Passengers can also participate in HX’s Science Programme, which includes involvement in Citizen Science projects.

They can work alongside scientists on a variety of research studies, including monitoring whale and penguin populations, collecting phytoplankton samples and sharing sightings of leopard seals to aid conservation efforts.

Always sustainable

When you book your clients on an HX voyage, you can be sure that sustainability is at the forefront of all sailings.

The cruise line has eliminated non-essential single-use plastics, and actively contributes to the livelihood of port communities by sourcing food and running excursions with local suppliers.

Passengers don’t have to compromise on sustainability when visiting Antarctica. Hybrid-powered MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen, which reduce carbon emissions by up to 20%, sail to the continent.

Plus, lectures on global warming and the operator’s Citizen Science projects ensure that passengers can all play their part in a sustainable sailing.
