Virgin Atlantic plans more Clubhouses as LAX facility opens

Virgin Atlantic has revealed plans to open another two Clubhouse airport lounges in the next two years.

The target was revealed by Corneel Koster, chief customer and operating officer, at the opening of the airline’s sixth Clubhouse, at Los Angeles International Airport, yesterday (Thursday).

“We plan to open a couple more Clubhouses over the next couple of years, the next of which will be in the United States,” he told Travel Weekly.

Referring to the design and facilities at the new lounge at LAX airport, Koster said: “It’s a homage to the City of Angels. It has all the signature features of our Clubhouses but also tunes into the wellness focus of LA.”

Virgin Atlantic flies twice-daily from Heathrow to LAX, rising to three times a day from April 4.

The LAX Clubhouse has capacity for 75 passengers and is open to Upper Class passengers, Flying Club Gold Tier members, Delta One customers and SkyTeam Elite Plus members.

Facilities include three private workstation pods; a Zen Den for private workouts, yoga and relaxation; a cinema with personal headsets; an extensive table-service culinary offering featuring dishes such as a tuna poke bowl, California roll, tofu pho and Californian fig salad; a bar; showers; and more.

Also on display are memorabilia from founder Sir Richard Branson’s personal collection.

Staff at the lounge have been trained by a training manager from Virgin Atlantic’s flagship Clubhouse at Heathrow.

Koster added: “We think British customers will find the Clubhouse the best way to lift their spirits before their flight.”
