British Airways to start Portland flights next June

British Airways is to operate five flights a week to Portland from next summer.

The airline first announced plans to fly to the US city in 2019, with flights due to commence in June 2020 before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also confirmed it will be resuming its service to Pittsburgh, with four flights a week operating on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Both services will commence on June 3, with Portland flights operating on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Neil Chernoff, director of networks and alliances, said: “British Airways has always had a fond connection with the USA so it’s an honour to offer our customers yet more direct connections to new cities.

“Today’s announcement to Pittsburgh and Portland is an exciting moment for customers wanting to plan ahead next year – to take a much-needed holiday or visit family and friends.”

He added: “Our new route to Portland opens up a whole variety of connections for our customers. Through Alaska Airlines, our oneworld partner, British Airways will offer codeshare connections to several destinations operated by Alaska Airlines from Portland.”
