Jet2 cancels flights to Amsterdam after reviewing demand

Jet2 has cancelled summer flights to Amsterdam from Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports following a routine review of its schedule and demand.

Flights from both UK airports to Amsterdam have been cancelled in July and August, with the programme expected to recommence in September.

The airline currently operates two flights a week from Birmingham and four flights a week from Leeds Bradford.

A spokesperson stressed the cancellations are down to a routine review of demand and unrelated to widespread staff shortages in the aviation industry.

They said: “Following the latest review, we have taken the decision, in consultation with Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, to withdraw July and August services to Amsterdam from Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports. Our programme to Amsterdam is scheduled to recommence in September.

“Where customers are affected, we will contact them to let them know and they will receive a full refund.

“It is important to note that this decision has nothing to do with staff shortages that are currently impacting other airlines, and withdrawn flights were not due to depart until June 30 at the earliest.”

Last week, Jet2 reduced flights to Jersey from Manchester, Birmingham and London Stansted airports following a review of its programme.
