Group UK, a division of UK Holiday Group, has seen a 40% year-on-year sales increase after introducing a series of promotions.
The division launched low priced ‘direct by coach’ holidays to locations such as the Lake District, Torquay and Lincolnshire. Agencies such as Travelcare and Allen Sturges were among those to benefit.
Special Easter breaks, summer specials, seaside escapes and were also available, and the group is offering themed Christmas breaks in November.
Sales director Harold Burke said: “We wanted to give agents a price that enables them to compete with direct sale and bring people back into their shops. This pilot scheme has yielded good results and we’ll be carrying on into 2008.”
The Grand UK Hotels division of the UK Holiday Group, a portfolio of ten hotels, reported an 18% increase in sales driven by themed breaks and group business from tour operators.
The hotels have also been boosted by more bookings for conferences and special events for organisations with more than 500 members.
Group UK will be at the Group Leisure and Travel Show at the NEC in Birmingham from September 20 to 21. The 2008 Brochure will be launched later this month.
