New York marketing body plans global ad push

New York marketing and tourism organisation NYC & Company is to launch a TV ad campaign highlighting famous landmarks as part of a global advertising effort.

The ad – featuring the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty – will appear on terrestrial and digital channels during programmes such as Ugly Betty and Without a Trace.

It can also be viewed on Youtube and on NYC & Company’s website.

The worldwide campaign includes online film, TV, print, outdoor, digital media and webcontent. The organisation says it aims to use “innovative methods” to promote the city around the world in an increasingly competitive tourism industry.

NYC & Company chief executive George Fertitta said: “Clearly the best form of advertising is word of mouth, so using a site such asYouTube to further promote New York City makes perfect sense. It’s important for us to keep pace with people’s changing media habits and use the most relevant forms to capture people’s attention.”
