Jon Hendry Pickup, chief executive of restaurant chain Prezzo, is to take the helm at Butlin’s.
He is due to take over in the summer from Butlin’s managing director Dermot King, who is stepping down after almost eight years.
Hendry Pickup is leaving from Prezzo after the company won approval from its landlords earlier this week to close 94 outlets via a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) with its creditors.
He is a former chief operating officer of Travelodge and was with Prezzo for two years.
King has been a director of Butlin’s parent company Bourne Leisure since 2002, having joined the company as an accountant in 1989.
He has been chairman of the British Hospitality Association’s Cut Tourism VAT campaign for three years. The BHA is now known as UKHospitality following a merger with the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers earlier this year.
