TV presenter Jane McDonald appeared on daytime TV show This Morning today – and encouraged presenters Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford to try a river cruise.
McDonald was invited on to the ITV programme to reflect on her recent Bafta awards success and talk about the new four-part series of Cruising with Jane McDonald, starting next month.
Asked if she had to be persuaded to front the successful programme because it involves spending time away from home, she turned the focus back on Holmes and Langsford.
McDonald, a former cruise ship singer, said: “Try a river cruise first. You do not get sea sick on a river cruise [and] you go right in to the city.
She said she “had never done a river cruise before this programme” and said it was a “brilliant concept”
“You get one bag, make one trip and you visit all these places all over the world,” McDonald said. “For me to go to these places that I am visiting now is something that I dreamed about.”
Channel 5 TV series Cruising with Jane McDonald won a Bafta television award at a ceremony in London earlier this month.
The show, presented by McDonald, was the surprise winner of the features category in the 2018 Bafta TV awards.
McDonald revealed the programme’s executive producer wrote her winning speech “just in case” she scooped a gong.
Looking back on the moment she heard she had won, she said: “I just heard ‘cruising’ and people got up off their seats.”
The latest series of Cruising with Jane McDonald begins on June 8 at 9pm.
