Scenic Eclipse sea trials ‘surpass expectations’

Scenic Eclipse has successfully completed its first sea trials along the Croatian coastline, ahead of its launch on August 15.

Described as the world’s first discovery yacht, the vessel will offer cruises in the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, the Arctic and fjords.

Captain James Griffiths of Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours said: “Sea trials are a critical milestone in the construction process as they are the first time all ship systems are operated together. The results from these trials surpassed every expectation.

“I was also delighted with how quiet the ship is.

“Scenic Eclipse really does manage to combine small-ship manoeuvrability with big-ship levels of comfort and quietness; it’s quite remarkable to experience it.”

The ship will carry 228 passengers on cruises, and 200 in polar regions.

It also has two six-guest helicopters and a six-guest seater submarine Scenic Neptune.

Its maiden voyage will be from Reykjavik to Quebec.

The introduction of Scenic Group’s luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse was delayed three times, because of financial challenges at the shipyard in Croatia where the vessel was built.
