Thomas Cook’s Torey Kings-Hodkin to stay after reshuffle

Thomas Cook says it has yet to decide on the future role of Torey Kings-Hodkin following news Freedom Travel Group head Kelly Cookes will become head of commercial partnerships and sales planning from August, but has confirmed she will remain at the company

Kings-Hodkin, head of cruise and Disney partnerships since December 2017, is currently on secondment in the role of commercial partnerships and sales planning. She reports into UK retail director Karthryn Darbandi on future retail strategy.

The company stressed Kings-Hodkin’s position was “not at risk” but said it had not yet decided what her role would be from August, when Cookes returns from maternity leave.

In a letter to business partners this week, sales, e-commerce and marketing director Phil Gardner confirmed Kings-Hodkin would continue working on “live conversations and queries” but that Darbandi would take on responsibility for any new business relating to retail and multi-channel contracts covering online, including white label solutions.

The letter said: “For any live conversations and queries currently underway with myself, including current contract negotiations and marketing plans, I will conclude these with you along with Torey.

“Kathryn will assume responsibility for the oversight of all new matters affecting retail and as is already the case, Torey remains as your main point of contact. This will remain the case until Kelly’s return to the business in August. Kathryn will update on subsequent structures in due course.”

Prior to becoming head of cruise and Disney partnerships, Kings-Hodkin was head of retail west.

Darbandi is expected to announce “subsequent structures” within the business, including Kings-Hodkin’s role, once Cookes has returned from maternity leave in August.
