Latin Routes to operate escorted group tours

Latin Routes will operate escorted group tours for the first time next year.

The South America specialist, founded in 2012, has unveiled nine escorted touring itineraries across six countries, with 29 departures from May 2020.

All departures are guaranteed and prices start at £2,699, with tours featured in a standalone brochure. The destinations featured are Argentina, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.

The tours will include no more than 16 adults, be fully escorted, and include stays at three and four‑star accommodation.

Latin Routes said the move into the group touring market followed increased demand from the trade.

Marketing manager Felipe Francisco said: “People kept asking us for group departures and we had to refer them to our competitors.

“Looking at our capabilities, we decided it was the right time to launch this. We expect most sales in the first year to come from the trade.”

The operator will offer three options with different themes on one or two days of each tour.

Examples include a Lima Foodie Tour to try Peruvian cuisine; a Wildlife Experience in the Palomino Islands where clients can swim with sea lions; and an Antiques and Colonial tour in San Telmo, Buenos Aires.

Francisco added: “Our ethos has always been tailor-made trips and we have tried to do that with groups. Giving options keeps an element of the tailor-made in there and separates us from competitors.”

Latin Routes launched the new range to the trade at a special event this week in London. Until now, the operator has offered only tailor‑made private holidays.
