Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has added the Greek island of Santorini for summer 2020.
It is the sixth new destination in Greece for the airline and tour operator for next year. It has already added Mykonos, Lesvos, Kalamata, Skiathos and Preveza for summer 2020, and in total now offers 14 destinations in Greece.
Flights will be offered twice-weekly, on Thursday and Saturday, from Manchester, and every Tuesday from Birmingham and London Stansted, from early May until late October.
The company is putting almost 40,000 seats on sale in total to Santorini, where tourist sights include Oia, a famous location for watching the sunset, and Akrotiri, a Minoan settlement preserved under volcanic ash.
Accommodation ranges from traditional family-run hotels to five-star retreats in resorts such as Imerovigli, Kamari, Megalachori, Perissa, Perivolos and Thira.
Steve Heapy, chief executive, said: “Holidaymakers have been asking for us to operate flights and holidays to Santorini, and we have responded with this programme.
“Santorini is famous for its beauty and scenery, and we are absolutely delighted to be launching flights and holidays to such a popular and stunning destination.”
Emy Anagnostopoulou, director, Greek National Tourism Organisation’s UK & Ireland Office, said: “We are extremely excited to hear that Jet2.com will be introducing Santorini as another new route in Greece for 2020.”
