Bath Travel’s sales and marketing director Roger Barker is set to leave the business after more than 40 years.
Industry stalwart Barker is retiring and plans to enjoy spending time with his family and making the most of his season ticket with Bournemouth Football Club.
Barker joined Bath in 1974 as a travel consultant and worked his way up to head office where he became sales and marketing manager before taking on his current role of sales and marketing director.
He leaves the business on November 13.
“I have a season ticket at Bournemouth and I already go to the home games but now I’ll be able to go to away games too,” he said.
“I also have two lovely grandchildren and I’m looking forward to spending more time with them.
“Bath Travel is a fantastic company. When I joined there were just 10 branches and now there are 60, so the expansion has been great.
“I’ve loved my time at Bath Travel.”
Commenting on Barker’s departure, John Hays, managing director of the Hays Travel Group, said: “Roger will be missed by us all. He has worked with Bath Travel for more than 40 years and that is amazing.
“He is such a gentleman and I’m sure everyone who knows him feels that way too. He has done a fantastic job at Bath.”
