The Artic Circle city of Tromso in the Scandinavian ski region of Salen-Trysil are both to be served from Heathrow next winter.
SAS is to operate the routes as part of an expanded winter schedule.
The airline already serves the Scandinavian Mountains airport, which serves as the gateway to Swedish alpine resort Salen and Norway’s largest ski area Trysil, from Copenhagen and Aalborg during the winter.
The new connections from London are in addition to a service from Aarhus in Denmark and other new seasonal routes to northern Scandinavia.
“These additions will enable more travellers to enjoy the ski resorts, dog sledding, and the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights during the upcoming winter season,” a SAS statement said.
The airline’s chief revenue officer Erik Westman added: “We see a significant rise in Europeans travelling to northern Scandinavia during the winter season and we are very pleased to be able to increase our departures to this part of the world.
“Our winter programme also includes improved connectivity between US and Asia and our Scandinavian as well as European destinations.”
