P&O Cruises has announced plans to build a new cruise terminal in Southampton on the site of its present one.
Work will begin on the new facilities this summer and the project is scheduled for completion in spring 2001.
A P&O spokeswoman said that building work would be carried out on days when P&O’s ships were not in port, and passengers would be inconvenienced as little as possible.
The new development will include a departure lounge, a baggage-reclaim hall and ramped access from the car park to ships.
