Galileo restructure prompts Grover to quit
GALILEO UK general manager Peter Grover will leave the company at the beginning of July. The move follows a restructuring at the organisation as a result of owner British Airways’ decision to sever all links with the global distribution system supplier (Travel Weekly February 7).
Grover, who is also general manager of Galileo’s parent company TAS, has decided to leave rather than take up the new position of sales director, UK, Ireland and Scandinavia that was created as part of the restructure.
Grover said he is considering a number of options. A replacement will be announced before he leaves.
Galileo suffered an embarrassing setbacklast month when rival GDS Amadeus won the contract to handle BA’s information technology systems. Grover’s boss, former Galileo UK managing director Mike Thorne, remains managing director of training division Chameleon but is now also general manager for the Amadeus BA account.
Meanwhile, Ryanair is to stop selling tickets through Galileo on July 31. The airline claims the charges of up to £4 per sector are exorbitant.
