Eight agents from Travel Counsellors have explored Alentejo during a wine-focused fam trip, hosted by Visit Alentejo in partnership with Visit Portugal and TAP Air Portugal.
The itinerary began in Lisbon, from where the group travelled for a lunch and wine tasting at Tapada dos Coelheiros, followed by a scenic drive to Estremoz.
They stayed at Casa do Gadanha, a country house hotel in the centre of Estremoz, for two nights.
Highlights of the Alentejo region on their trip included a visit to Évora – the European Capital of Culture for 2027 – as well as the scenic towns of Marvão, Castelo de Vide, Porto Covo, and Monsaraz.
For their final night, they stayed in a boutique hotel at the Herdade do Sobroso winery.
Travel counsellor David Ashworth, Travel Counsellors said: “I love the authenticity of the region; the way it’s remained traditional but modern. The views are amazing, the towns are quaint and full of history, it’s easy to navigate your way around by car and the people so welcoming.
“For foodies it’s paradise…and the wines and wineries are comparable to anywhere else I’ve been to.”
Another travel counsellor, Jodi Kerr, added: “The Fast Track at Lisbon airport with TAP was a time saver and great service on our return flight. I will recommend this to all my clients.”
She said highlights included Torres de Palma Wine Hotel and the Restaurant Alecrim at Casa do Gadanha.
Travel counsellor Debbie King commented: “The food and wine were extraordinary – and I am a fussy eater!
“I have clients that are keen walkers, and some that are cyclists, and I have told them as much as I can about the area.”
