Tourists to pay goods and services tax

Travel companies are being urged to make clients aware of a new goods and services tax that will come into effect in Australia on July 1.

Tourists can claim a refund on GST on goods that cost £120 or more. Hotel roomrates are affected by GST but the Australian government claims any increase will beoffset by the removal oflocal taxes that are currently applied.
