Direct-sell solutions can be reached
I understand from various articles in the trade press that Airtours is considering removing direct sales numbers from brochures.Perhaps Icould help them make a positive decision.
Airtours’ summer 2001 brochures are stacked under our desks. They will stay there and only be handed out to clients who have already booked. If Airtours wants us to rack its brochures, all direct sales numbers must be removed.
If the reason for publishing direct numbers is to enable clients to book out of shop hours, then the solution is simple. Tell telesales staff to ask the customer where they picked up the brochure and note the ABTAnumber on it, then pay commission to that agency. That way nobody loses – Airtours gets the booking and the agency is rewarded.
