New capacity to Las Vegas

VIRGIN Holidays is launching a 150,000 capacity programme to the new Virgin Atlantic destination Las Vegas.

The operator will offer excursions to the Grand Canyon, along with shows and events in the entertainment capital of the US.

Las Vegas is served by two weekly Boeing 747 flights from Gatwick. Chairman Sir Richard Branson is also considering building a Virgin-branded hotel on the famous Las Vegas Strip.

Operators welcomed Virgin’s move into the Nevada city.

Jerry Bridge, managing director of Bridge the World, said his firm would be taking advantage of the new scheduled flights as previous UK charter services to Las Vegas did not suit his clients.
