Baker defends Lastminute.com
LASTMINUTE.COM head of supply Helen Baker launched a vigorous defence of the company during a conference speech in Las Vegas.Baker, a late stand-in for Destinex.com managing director Tony Bennett, insisted the company will survive despite the recent plunge in its share price and refusal of major tour operators to supply it with product.
She also claimed that lastminute was not dependent on travel with 45% of available product not being travel-related.
“But contrary to popular belief we do have deals with tour operators and hotels,” she said.
Baker added that lastminute already has a strong brand and has financial security.
