Canada 3000 scheduled UKflights prompted by flotation
CANADA’S largest charter carrier Canada 3000 is planning to launch scheduled UKflights as part of massive expansions following its planned flotation. The 12-year-old airline said it needed to raise money to compete after Air Canada and Canadian Airlines merger.
The float will be on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Staff will be urged to take a stake in the privately owned airline. A preliminary prospectus has been filed with regulators.
Canada 3000 president Angus Kinnear said: “We believe it is very timely to expand our services to meet the Canadian consumers’ expectations on the availability of affordable air travel in the future.”
Canadian air travellers have complained that the joint Air Canada/Canadian airline is not delivering a reasonable service and fares are rising.
Kinnear will also use money from a float to develop Canada 3000’s e-business which will be supported by a full e-commerce Web site. He is also looking at a new distribution and product control system. The airline is planning computerised check-in at all its airports.
Canada 3000, which will carry 3m passengers this year, serves seven Canadian cities from seven UK and Ireland airports.
