Counter staff will gain from fam trip rise
THE NUMBER of educational places on offer from Hayes and Jarvis is to double next year to over 500 but only counter staff will be invited to attend.Managing director Chris May said:”Previously branch managers and their assistants have always had first opportunity to join us but we have taken a decision to invite only counter staff next year.
“They are the people that face the customer and we would much rather they know about the product than someone in the back office.
“Counter staff by nature chat to each other all the time, so we feel that it will be worthwhile sending them. We will give the new policy a year to see how it works.”
Meanwhile, May has warned that operators will have to re-write their brochures later on in the year to take into account the fall in value of the pound against the US dollar.
Recently, the pound slipped to under $1.5, the first time since the mid-1980s.
