Operators welcome Spanish food hygiene certification
UK OPERATORS have endorsed a new certificate awarded for high food safety standards in Spanish hotels.The Cristal Excellencia certificate, developed by risk management company Cristal International and launched last week in Majorca, is awarded to hotels showing evidence of a low risk of bacterial infection at all stages of food preparation, cooking and service.
First Choice regional quality control manager for the Balearics Karen Story said: “We undertake our own quality checks but the Cristal system makes our work much easier.”
So far 55 hotels have received the Excellencia certificate which suffered a foodpoisoning outbreak three years ago.
