Extrasure starts self-issue product to aid trade sales
EXTRASURE has relaunched its net-rated TripSure as a self-issue product to improve sales of the policy through the trade. The move, which allows agents to issue the policy from their branch without having to contact Extrasure’s London office, is one of several being introduced by Trans-Continental Insurance Services group sales and marketing director Jo Clark.
Clark took responsibility for Extrasure following the company’s acquisition by Trans-Continental at the end of last year.
“I am looking at the way Extrasure does business and the travel agents that it is actually working with,” said Clark.
“We have around 5,000 travel agents on our books but most don’t produce anything because they are multiples.
“We need to focus our attention on independent travel agents whowe have not actually targeted in the past.”
Clark admitted the insurance market is very competitive but said Extrasure offers agents an opportunity to compete with direct-sell brokers in niche markets with policies such as ActivitySure.
This is sold as a bolt-on to the standard insurance package along with AmericaSure, which provides additional insurance for people renting cars in the US.
