Singapore Airlines prepares to revamp Heathrow lounge

SINGAPORE Airlines is set to revamp its existing lounge for first and Raffles-class customers at Heathrow.

The airline’s general manager UK and Ireland Vijendran Alfreds said the lounge would be “bigger and better” than the existing one but declined to give a completion date.

“It’s going to be quite something for the business passenger. It will be along the same lines as the first Silver Kris lounge in Singapore,”he said.

The airline spent £1.7m on renovating its lounge at Singapore Changi Airport two years ago, which offers passengers showers, Internet facilities, soundproof telephone booths, meeting rooms and champagne.

Singapore Airlines is also considering offering showers on flights.

A spokesman said: “The showers in our Silver Kris lounges are very popular, especially with customers going on long journeys who are in transit and taking connecting flights. So we have to consider whether the customer would rather have a shower in the lounge, where we have space for several cubicles or during the flight.”
