Survey reveals competition facing hotels
AIRLINES and new technology are challenging hotels for the business traveller market, according to business agency BTI UK.
Managing director Mike Platt said overnight flights, video conferencing, mobile phones and e-mail have all led to corporate travellers spending fewer nights away from home. Improved airline schedules and the availability of beds on many planes have also led to the airlines pinching business from hotels. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, BTIUK researched hotel rates since 1990 and found Brazil now tops the list of most expensive countries to stay in costing an average of £158.11 a night.
