P&OPortsmouth welcomes competition from new service
P&O Portsmouth has welcomed the competition from Brittany Ferries and Condor to its own fast-ferry operation from Portsmouth to Cherbourg.
However, the ferry operator said its location will ensure it is the preferred departure port.
P&O Portsmouth head of passenger sales and marketing Paul Barringer said: “They have obviously decided to launch this service because they have seen how successful it has been for us. However, we think our craft, schedule and the fact we use Portsmouth, which has such good access, puts us in a strong position. We have no plans to make changes to our service because of this.”
Brittany Ferries marketing and operations director David Longden said: “We have seen P&O Portsmouth’s fast craft develop and we cannot ignore the fact that a proportion of the business wants to get there quickly.”
No change: P&O Portsmouth is not going to change its Cherbourg service as a result of the Condor/Brittany tie-up
